Presidential Term
Election
An election is held when there is no President or the current term has ended. All active, non-jailed players vote. Majority wins. In a tie, a runoff is held between tied candidates.
"We will now elect a President. The President serves for 2 Years, cannot be jailed while in office, has 2 votes in the jail vote, and selects the project committee."
After election: "[Name] is President through Year [X]."
Presidential Powers
| Power | Description |
|---|---|
| Committee selection | President chooses all committee members each Year (see Projects) |
| Project choice | President selects between the two available projects |
| Double vote | President's vote in the jail vote counts as 2 |
| Immunity | President cannot be jailed while serving their term |
Term Length
- 2 Years (base game, 13 players)
- Adjust for player count if needed
Strategic Weight
The President is the most powerful role on the board. They control:
- Who is on committees (and therefore who can earn kickbacks or sabotage projects)
- Which project is attempted (cost/value tradeoff)
- Significant sway in the jail vote
A Corrupt Politician winning the presidency is a major advantage for Bad. A Good Politician in the presidency can systematically exclude suspected Corrupt from committees.
The President election and their actions each Year are covered in Moderator Reference.
